My son is beginning to appreciate films and film ratings. We’ve been talking a fair bit about how this works, and how films are made to suit particular audiences.
The same is true when documenting a business process or procedure. Who is the audience and how will they use this process or procedure?
For internal analysis, your normal process diagram works well. However what about for a team that’s on the road, in a truck all day?
Do they want a document, or perhaps a small, laminated card that outlines the key points important to them?
Or a team that is constantly mobile, and only have tablets and their phones? Is there an app that would support them better, rather than a process diagram?
Getting the process or procedure documented is important, but it loses its value rather rapidly if it’s never used by the people that need it.
Get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll happily tell you more about why putting the audience front of mind is so important.
